Whether buying for a home office or a work office, electronics are a necessary part of life. However, with the state of the economy being what it is, it is necessary to get the best deal possible to avoid overspending. So when is the best time of year to buy electronics? There are most definitely times when it is better to buy over others.

The best time to buy electronics is most definitely during the Christmas season, to be exact “Black Friday”. What is it about a laptop for $100 or a printer for $20, which makes people jump out of bed at 3 am and line up at the doors waiting for their great deal? It all stems from one thing; we all want something for as cheap as we can get it. Why would you pay $400 for a computer that is on sale on Black Friday for $300? Retailers use holidays, such as Thanksgiving as a time to offer great sales; therefore boosting their revenue. With the economy being in the shape it is in, they are hoping that you might come in for the cheap electronic item, but buy hundreds of dollars more.

Electronics are all around us in the office. If you are looking for desktop calculators, printers, cameras, scanners and of course computers, buying during a sales event, is the only time to shop. A new sales holiday, which is making a name for itself is Cyber Monday. Recently this holiday was started as another way to boost the stores revenue and offer consumers great deals. This day follows Black Friday, after the Thanksgiving holiday. Unlike Black Friday, which has a plethora of sales going on in the store, Cyber Monday is mostly geared toward getting people to shop online. Online shopping allows stores to have lower overhead, because they do not need clerks to check people out and it ends up being a win, win for both customer and store. But if you need office electronics and it is not near the Thanksgiving holiday, you are in luck. Any of the other holidays, such as Veterans Day, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and the list goes on and on, are also great times for sales. Retail giants will usually offer great prices on electronics for a 2 or 3 days sale or sometimes a Best Buy, Target or Amazon coupon will pop up online or in the newspaper.. Most promote them as “Holiday” Spectacular event, to lure more customers into their stores. Whatever time of year you are looking for the bargain, it pays to shop around and find the best sales price on exactly what you want.

How To Be A More Green Company

When a company looks to make a statement with the public they usually look at things that are important. The public has passions about things that make the world a better place to live. There are passions to feed the poor, help the homeless, conserving water and protecting the environment. One of the best ways for a corporation to make a public statement is by taking the steps to make it a company that helps protect the environment.  There are companies that only provide products or services that are considered “green” for example, eco fashion clothing, led light bulbs and then there are companies that try to be as sustainable as possible without selling “green” products.

The larger the company becomes, the bigger the footprint that it leaves on the earth. The amount of trash a company puts out is one of the biggest hazards to the earth. If a company can recycle more of what it puts out, then it will put less into the landfills. By being a company that recycles the public is more likely to have a favorable report for the company.

Another way for a company to protect the environment is by using sources of power that are lower in power consumption. Some lights use a massive amount of energy to produce light. If the company can replace their high power consuming light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs they can lower their energy needs and save money at the same time.

A company can also help cut down on emissions that are put out by cars. Some major companies have come up with the idea that they can offer a carpool incentive program to encourage people to share rides as they come to work. The more people they can get to share rides then there will be fewer cars on the road. By having less cars driving to the same building everyday there are less emissions going into the air.

Companies are in a good position to set the standard for protecting the environment by going green. A company that makes it a point to protect the environment will eventually help their workers do the same. By being green the company will have a favorable front to the public in which it serves.

Marketing plans have been around since the beginning of business. Marketing is to business, as definitions are to words. The main point of marketing is to tell the story behind your business, what you have to offer, why your product is better, and what sets you apart from the competition. If you look around, marketing is being thrown at us on every availability. From gas pumps, city buses, on our radio, and on our TVs. Perhaps the best form of marketing is word of mouth. Creating a great way to reward existing customers with a referral program may give you the best results, but having your customer sell for you can be a difficult task.

In order to start marketing for your business you need to understand who needs the services that you have to provide. Consider the financial market you are catering too. Do you have a product that serves everyone? Is your product only for college age people? Does your product cater to the financially challenged? Once you figure out your target audience for your product you can then begin to market more efficiently.

Promotional items can be a huge advantage on the marketing stage. It can be a seasonal object, a clever novelty item, custom notepads, pens, hats, even magnates. Once you find your target audience you can then begin to use that to your advantage. Where do your customers hang out? Where would your marketing money be spent the best?

If you know a customer’s address you may even be able to use that to your advantage. Its likely that your customer’s neighbors are in the same need of the same product as your customer. Direct mailings to those addresses may be beneficial. If you have a product that college students would need you may consider talking to a local pizza restaurant. Simply put, marketing works the best if you can focus in on your target audience. Once you find that you can then start to market more efficiently. The worst thing you can do is start to throw money into marketing without a real plan. The difference between large and small companies are indeed very different. When the local store you have gone too for years suddenly has a large national chain store down the road, your loyalty can be called into question. Years upon years of dedicated shopping, getting to know the employees, and personalized service can be put to the test when cheaper prices happen to be right down the road. In today’s hard economic times everyone is looking to get the best deal on whatever goods they are searching for. This has created a perfect storm for the smaller businesses. When its a matter of paying all the bills, putting food on the table, and supporting the family, past loyalties mean nothing when it comes to your own family.

Larger companies have the upper hand when it comes to price on the services they provide. They often employee double, or triple the amount of employees. They will also offer a wider selection of services with prices well under smaller companies. Leaving a difficult choice for the consumer, do I continue paying the same price for my products, or do I throw away years of loyalty in order to save money? Unfortunately for smaller business, the choice to save money is one that is driving smaller companies out of business.

One thing that we all notice when we compare large companies to small ones is the customer service. The larger the company, the more employees it puts to work. The larger the number of employees, the greater the chance they feel under-appreciated. This has a direct impact on how they view you, the consumer. Years of shopping at smaller companies can mean years of great customer service, something we have all sacrificed in order to pay cheaper prices.

In conclusion, smaller companies often provide the best customer service anyone can offer. The customer service is outstanding, but it is not worth the higher prices. Bigger companies have the ability to win us over with their great pricing and their wide variety. Since many bigger companies have such a wide variety, it can create a “one stop” shopping experience for the consumer. This not only saves the consumer money, but also saves on the time it takes to get your products you are seeking. Simply put, smaller companies and the great customer service they provided will soon be a thing of the past.
